Jumbuck Mini Spit Review

Hello, I’m Michael, a member of the Marketing team at BBQ Spit Rotisseries. Today, I’ll share my genuine thoughts on the $89 jumbuck mini spit bought from Bunnings Warehouse. You might have come across the buzz on Facebook or seen it on TV news. The jumbuck mini spit has gained immense popularity nationwide.

I’ve been using my Jumbuck Mini Spit for a couple of years now, and to sum it up: I’m thrilled with it.

My initial thoughts:

At first, I wondered, “Is it really any good for such a low price?” But let me tell you, this spit exceeded my expectations by far. Getting such impressive results from a spit that costs less than $90? It’s hard not to be delighted with that.

Putting it together was a breeze. The product is sturdy, and achieving excellent results is straightforward.

Options:

There are two versions of the Jumbuck mini spit available:

  • The Jumbuck ‘Novo’ Small Charcoal Spit Roaster
  • The Jumbuck ‘Rondo’ Small Charcoal Spit Roaster

You might be wondering about the distinction between the two. It’s actually quite straightforward. The ‘Novo’ includes a battery-operated motor, making it ideal for situations where you lack access to mains 240v power, such as camping, traveling, or if your house lacks external power sources.

On the other hand, the ‘Rondo’ is the electric version that operates on 240v mains power.

The choice of which one to purchase from Bunnings Warehouse depends entirely on your specific needs. However, you have the flexibility to enjoy both options by purchasing the other motor separately. For instance, you might prefer electricity for home use and the battery option for camping trips. It’s worth mentioning that both motors are highly energy-efficient, so you’ll get plenty of use from the batteries.

You have the option to purchase a 10kg electric motor or an 8kg battery motor.

Value for money:

Priced at an incredible $84.90, the Jumbuck mini spit offers unbeatable value. Regardless of your experience level in spit roasting, this price makes it accessible for anyone to give it a try. Whether you’re exploring a new hobby or testing the waters to see if spit roasting suits you, this price point makes it easily attainable.

But don’t be deceived by the low price; it’s more than capable of handling the task at hand. With a quality motor that can manage substantial loads, you’ll impress your friends and family, establishing yourself as a spit roasting pro without breaking the bank.

A crucial factor to consider when purchasing the Jumbuck mini spit, especially at its affordable price point, is the material used for the skewers and prongs, namely ‘chrome.’ Over time, chrome may chip or degrade, posing a potential risk of metal contamination to your food. We consistently advise our customers to opt for higher-quality spit accessories made of 304 food-grade stainless steel, providing peace of mind regarding food safety.

Ease of use: Assembling the Jumbuck mini spit is a breeze. Just connect the legs to the body, attach an air vent, add the uprights for skewer support, and you’re good to go. It’s as straightforward as that.

The straightforwardness of this device is the key to its widespread popularity throughout Australia. I’d venture to say hundreds of thousands of units have been sold, and rightfully so. The product is reliable.

Cooking is a breeze. Load your skewer, ignite some charcoal, switch on the motor, and you’re ready to cook within minutes. What’s not to appreciate about that?

Add-ons: Equipping your Jumbuck with the appropriate accessories is perhaps the most crucial factor in achieving exceptional results. As with anything, having the right tools can significantly enhance the ease and pleasure of the task.

Earlier, we highlighted the importance of using 304 food-grade stainless steel to ensure your food safety. All the accessories for our Jumbuck mini spit at BBQ Spit Rotisseries adhere to food safety standards. This not only ensures food safety but also simplifies cleanup, as they are dishwasher safe.

Here are a few basic accessories that will make your experience so much more enjoyable.

Improvements I’d like to see:

The skewer support on the Jumbuck mini spit feels somewhat flimsy, causing one side of the skewer to occasionally slip, particularly during carving. However, this might be more of a minor observation on my part rather than a significant issue with the unit.

What I truly appreciate about barbecuing is how it unites families and friends over delicious meals. With such an affordable starting point, this product genuinely fosters that sense of connection. Cooking over an open flame, in my view, is the epitome of culinary enjoyment, and it’s heartening to witness numerous enthusiastic individuals visiting our store to acquire accessories for their Jumbuck mini spit.
